“We’re going to build the biggest model railway in the world.” In July 2000, Gerrit Braun heard this sentence uttered by his brother Frederik, whose almost forgotten childhood dream had just been rekindled by a Zurich model railway shop. A dream that has now come true in the city with the historic “Speicherstadt” warehouse district (a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2015). Spread out across an area of 1300 m2, the miniature worlds are connected by 15 km of railway lines. The journey takes you from Scandinavia through Germany, Austria and Switzerland to America.
